China a prezentat, marți, un tren maglev capabil să atingă o viteză maximă de 600 km/h, potrivit presei de stat, citată de Reuters. Viteza maximă ar face ca trenul, dezvoltat de China și fabricat în orașul de coastă Qingdao, să fie cel mai rapid vehicul terestru din lume.
Folosind forța electromagnetică, trenul maglev „levitează” deasupra căii fără contact între corp și șină.
China folosește tehnologia de aproape două decenii la o scară foarte limitată. Shanghai are o linie scurtă de maglev care circulă de la unul dintre aeroporturile sale până în oraș.
Deși nu există încă linii maglev inter-oraș sau inter-provincie în China care ar putea folosi trenurile de mare viteză, unele orașe, inclusiv Shanghai și Chengdu, au început să efectueze prospecțiuni.
La 600 km/h, ar dura doar 2,5 ore pentru a călători de la Beijing la Shanghai cu trenul - o călătorie de peste 1.000 km.
Prin comparație, călătoria ar dura 3 ore cu avionul și 5,5 ore pe calea ferată de mare viteză.
