Ho Van Lang a murit luni, la aproximativ opt ani după ce el și tatăl său, Ho Van Thanh, s-au întors în civilizație. Cei doi au fugit în jungla din districtul Tra Bong în 1972, din cauza bombardamentelor lansate de trupele americane în timpul războiului din Vietnam, care le-au ucis aproape toată familia, potrivit The Times.

Timp de decenii, cei doi nici măcar nu au știut că războiul se încheiase.

Bărbații poate că nu s-ar fi gândit niciodată să revină în civilizație, dar în 2013 tatăl s-a îmbolnăvit, fiind obligați să caute ajutor medical în cea mai apropiată localitate.

Cei doi nu s-au mai întors în junglă, pentru că au fost imediat cuceriți de toate avantajele vieții moderne, în comunitate. Bătrânul a murit în 2017, din cauze incerte.

Ho Van Lang s-a îmbolnăvit ulterior, iar săptămâna aceasta a murit.

Prietenul lui, Alvaro Cerezo, a declarat pentru o agenție de știri că toate capcanele unei „vieți moderne”, între care alimentele procesate și chimicalele, i-ar fi dăunat.

Cum s-a readaptat la civilizație

Ho Van Lang și tatăl lui au fugit în junglă, unde au învățat să vâneze și să cultive diverse legume pentru a se hrăni, și-au construit din crengi și frunze uscate un adăpost și au umblat mai mult dezbrăcați. Timp de 41 de ani au stat exclusiv în junglă și singura legătură cu civilizația a fost fratele lui Lang rămas în Tra Kem, care îi mai vizita din când în când, potrivit Digi24.

În 2013, când tatăl s-a îmbolnăvit, cei doi au fost descoperiți din întâmplate de niște turiști care și-au dat seama că erau într-o situație dificilă. Aceștia au alertat autoritățile și astfel au fost readuși în civilizație.

La acea dată, bătrânul putea să comunice, însă Lang știa doar câteva cuvinte dintr-un dialect regional.

Cerezo, explorator și antreprenor, s-a împrietenit cu Lang, a locuit o perioadă în aceeași casă cu el și l-a ajutat să se reacomodeze în societate.

Cerezo a spus: „Nu mi-a plăcut să-l văd trăind în civilizație. Am fost mereu îngrijorat că el și corpul lui nu vor putea face față unei schimbări atât de drastice. Și-a petrecut toată viața în junglă și apoi a venit să trăiască în lumea civilizată, unde a început să mănânce alimente procesate și chiar să bea alcool”.

Cerezo a publicat o carte despre prietenul său în 2017.
