253 de critici de film – 118 femei și 135 de bărbați – din 52 de țări de pe șase continente au făcut o listă cu cele mai bune 10 comedii ale tuturor timpurilor. Interesant este că doar trei dintre comediile care au primit Oscarul pentru cel mai bun film au intrat în top 100. De asemenea, destul de multe comedii realizate după anul 2000 a făcut parte din listă.

Cel mai bine clasat film realizat în secolul XXI este Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy aflat pe locul 33, iar Toni Erdmann, o comedie germano-română, filmată în București, este cel mai nou film care a prins un loc în top.
